David M. Byrens, M.D.
Dr. Byrens has been in family practice since 1987, located in downtown Marshall in the Wright Medical Building. Dr. Byrens completed his undergraduate studies at Olivet College and received his medical degree from the University of Michigan. He completed his residency at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids and is certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
Desiree Cook, M.S., P.A.-C
Desiree Cook, PA-C is a 2011 graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelors of Science in Health Fitness in Preventative & Rehabilitative Programs. Desiree earned her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Wayne State University in 2013.
Rachel Dugan, M.S., P.A.-C
Rachel is the newest addition to our providers. She attended Central Michigan University and received a bachelors in Biomedical Science. She completed her Masters of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Nova Southeastern University. Before joining our practice in 2017, her work focused on pulmonology, critical care, and internal medicine.

We have a nurse and a provider to take calls and to schedule appointments from 8:00AM – 12:00PM.
We offer Care Management
We have a care manager on site to help you and your family manage your care and connect you to local resources. A care manager can assist in medication education/clarification, coordinating multiple specialists, disease/nutrition education, connecting patients with resources for financial assistance, transportation, and more. Ask the office for further information or to speak with a care manager.
We offer a Patient Portal
We work with Follow My Health to allow patients to connect with our office online. Some of the benefits of signing up for the portal are: access to your health record, prescription refills, online payments, quicker lab results, and office updates.
Our office is your Patient-Centered Medical Home
This is a partnership between our office and you. We ask that you come to us for regular care, inform us of medical treatment provided elsewhere, and call us first for non-emergent problems. In return, we promise to maintain convenient hours, listen to your concerns, help you manage your care, and coordinate that care with any other providers you see.
We are an independent practice located in historic Marshall, Michigan. Dr. Byrens started his practice is 1989 as a independent practice. The office has gown to meet the needs of its patients over the years, adding two Physician Assistants and additional support staff. As an office we have always strived to provide comprehensive patient-centered care.
Our office has been a Patient Centered Medical Home participant since 2007. What does this mean for our patients? It means that we are dedicated to offering and facilitating a patient-centered care experience. We are dedicated to our patients and the relationship between patient and provider. We ask that our patients in return come to us for all their health care needs and keep open lines of communication between our office, themselves, and all other care providers.
