In broad strokes, a Physician Assistant is trained and certified as follows:"A Physician Assistant is concerned with preventing, maintaining, and treating human illness and injury by providing a broad range of health care services that were traditionally performed by a physician. Physician Assistants conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, assist in surgery, give medical orders and write prescriptions."
More specific to our office, Desiree covers much of the broad range of medical care offered by Dr. Byrens. She examines patients, diagnoses/treats illnesses, writes prescriptions, conducts physical and wellness exams, performs office procedures, and much more. We are very excited to have Desiree join our staff!
Dr. Byrens was recently named a Patient Centered Medical Home Provider (PCMH). Only those who meet the program's elevated requirements receive the PCMH designation, and the program requires rigorous guidelines that place the focus of care on patients and receiving the best possible care. By incorporating guidelines that link the patient, doctor, and staff, the PCMH program will allow our office to provide the best treatment possible. The guidelines have also launched our new web portal, which will provide another avenue to access our office. These guidelines, the addition of Ashley to our staff, the web portal, and extended hours are combining to expand and elevate our patient-centered care.
